Magnitude 4.8 quake jolts Antique

MANILA—A magnitude-4.8 earthquake jolted Antique Monday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The tremor happened at 10:12 p.m., 14 kilometers southeast of Barbaza town.

It was tectonic in origin and struck a depth of 16 kilometers, according to Phivolcs. 

Intensity III was recorded in San Jose de Buenavista town in Antique, while Intensity I was recorded in Lezo town in Aklan.

Meanwhile, instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas:

Intensity III – Malay, and Malinao, Aklan; Culasi, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique
Intensity II – Bago City, Negros Occidental
Intensity I – La Carlota City, Negros Occidental; Iloilo City

The tremor is not expected to cause aftershocks. No damage has been reported so far.
