1,153 new COVID-19 cases bring active tally to 18,721
The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday recorded 1,153 new COVID-19 cases bringing the nationwide tally to 2,827,820, as eight laboratories failed to submit data on time.
The DOH said the active infections stood at 18,721. The Philippines’ COVID-19 positivity rate was at 2.3%, slightly lower than the 2.8% positivity rate recorded on Monday.
Both figures were within the World Health Organization’s requirement target of less than 5% positivity rate. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were 25,562.
Total recoveries climbed by 2,182 to 2,761,617 while 195 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 47,482.
Data also showed that 32% of 3,700 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide are in use.
At least 17% of the 13,300 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 23% of the 4,000 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.
Based on the latest report, the DOH said two laboratories were not operational since November 21, while eight laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
The Health Department reported that 99 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 94 are recoveries and one death.
In addition, 87 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count. Of these, 68 are recoveries.
Meanwhile, at least 170 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.—LDF, GMA News
