DAR, THE DISTRIBUTION OF INSURANCE TO FARMERS HAS BEEN STARTED

TARGET of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is to provide protection to the agricultural assets of farmers during disasters. As a result, the DAR in Sultan Kudarat province conducted an on-site mass insurance application to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) with current crops and livestock in said town. In collaboration with the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), DAR successfully assisted the insurance application of 315 ARBs – of which 200 ARBs were from Barangay Datalblao and 115 ARBs were from Barangay Sinapulan. According to OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Mary Jane Aguilar the insured farmers are part of the 7,300 ARB that the agency aims to provide insurance this year for the protection of their agricultural assets such as short and long term crops. , livestock, fisheries, and their equipment. In this regard, Aguilar commended the staff for successfully conducting the activity and for their continued support and initiative to provide support services to the ARBs. The ARB-AIP program began in 2013 and to this day still provides insurance to ARBs.
