DOLE warns public vs fake job hiring online

THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is warning the public not to be deceived by a job hiring post on social media using the department’s official logo.

The post is reportedly looking for interns for the DOLE’s Government Internship Program (GIP) and asking applicants to submit their personal information and other credentials.

“This is not the way how we do hiring of GIPs. We do not share and amplify for the world to see the personal information of the applicants in adherence to Republic Act No. 10173, otherwise known as the Data Privacy Act,” according to DOLE-Central Visayas OIC Director Lilia Estillore.

The GIP is a component of the National Government’s Kabataan 2000 Program that was developed to provide opportunities for in-school youth to have hands-on experience working in various government agencies.

Under the program, interns will have to render three to six months of service and will be paid 75 percent of the existing wage rate in the region where they are working. (PAC, TPT)
